Deshun T. Martin
Attorney & FounderDeshun Terrell Martin was born in Edwards, Mississippi, one of a historic set of triplets. After losing his father to a heart attack at age ten, Deshun channeled that grief into discipline, graduating as salutatorian of Raymond High School with a 4.2 grade point average.
He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Jackson State University in 2001, maintaining a 3.8 GPA, and went on to The University of Mississippi School of Law. Upon graduating in 2004, Deshun and his triplet brothers, Kenya and Warren Jr., made history as the first set of triplets in America to graduate law school and pass the bar examination at the same time.
That same year, Deshun joined the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office under the Honorable Jim Hood, serving as Special Assistant Attorney General. Over his tenure, he worked as Special Prosecutor, Prosecutor in the Public Integrity and Criminal Divisions, Director of the Child Desertion Unit, and Lobbyist for the Attorney General—helping shape statewide policies and laws that protect Mississippi citizens.
In 2014, Deshun founded Martin & Martin, PA, a full-service law practice in the downtown Jackson business district at 228 East Capitol Street.
Beyond the courtroom, Deshun and his triplet brothers co-authored Love, Faith, and Hope, a collection of original poetry, short stories, and prose inspired by 1 Corinthians 13:13. Their historic journey has been featured in Ebony, Jet, Money Magazine, Black Issues In Higher Education, The Clarion-Ledger, The UM Lawyer, and the Jackson Advocate. The triplets also appeared on The Montel Williams Show and The Oprah Winfrey Show.
Deshun is married to his law partner, Attorney Vaterria M. Martin. They have two children, Sarea Ani and Joshua Deshun. A Deacon and Trustee board member at the historic Farish Street Baptist Church in Jackson, Deshun’s faith is central to both his life and his practice.
